Mrs. Annette Leona (Orth) Dockter Atherton, known as Nettie, was born on February 14, 1918 in Kulm, North Dakota, to the late Martha Orth and the late John Orth, passed away at age 100 on August 24, 2018 in Sacramento, California. She graduated from Kulm High School and Heald Business School. She was employed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles as an Administrative Specialist until retiring as everyone's favorite DMV clerk. Annette's first spouse was the late Adolph Dockter of Streeter, North Dakota. Later, she was married to the late William Atherton. She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Orth; and sister, Frieda Hogue. Annette is survived by her son, Roger Dockter; daughter, Jeannette Hall; sister, Esther Grosz, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Annette had a passion for painting and ceramics as a young woman and later was a master collector of treasures found at garage sales, such as her 2600-piece shot glass collection. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church for over twenty-five years. Friends and family are welcome to attend the memorial service, officiated by Steve Allison, on Saturday, September 1 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Sacramento Memorial Lawn - Sacramento, 6100 Stockton Boulevard , Sacramento, California, 95824. Funny, smart, and unfailingly kind and generous, Annette was a bright shining star in life and continues to light up heaven now. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
