Please share a memory of Farrington to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Farrington Kealoha Blaisdell, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 22, 2017. Farrington (Blais) was born on the Hawaiian island of Molokai on October 10, 1927 to parents Edward & Lillian Blaisdell (deceased). Loving brother to siblings Edward, Benjamin, Jewel and Edwina Blaisdell (all deceased). After Farringtons mother passed away in his youth Farrington went to live with extended family on the island of Oahu, attending and graduating from McKinley High. From there, Farrington served in the Army as an MP in Germany. After his service ended, Farrington worked as a security guard back in Oahu at Pearl Harbor where he would meet his future wife Helen K Oshiro. Eventually, both moved at different times to San Francisco and attended San Francisco City College where Blais would earn his Associate in Arts degree. On September 30, 1952 Farrington and Helen wed in San Francisco, and would remain married for sixty five years. Soon after, both would attend California State University of Sacramento where Farrington would earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement. Fate would eventually lead Farrington to pursue and earn a teaching credential, which would lead him to a thirty plus year career as a special education teacher for Marshall/River City High School in West Sacramento. A highlight of his life were his children Oren Edward Blaisdell (deceased), Clyde William Blaisdell and Leina Lynn Blaisdell and his grandchildren Markie, Kylie, Autumn and Nova. He would make his fondest and most endearing memories with them throughout all his years. Blais was very involved with his community. Some of the organizations he belonged to were the VFW (In which he rose to a Commander), Hawaiian Athletic Club, Sacramento Judo Club, and the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church all in which he always helped and served. Enjoyments and hobbies in life for Blais included fishing, golfing, softball, bowling, painting, wood carving, a cold beer with friends and family, and most of all, his enjoyment of playing Ukulele. A Celebration of Life service and reception will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 1:30pm at the Sacramento United Methodist Church located at 6929 Franklin Boulevard in Sacramento. Hawaiian attire appreciated.
