Obituary of Muriel Lorraine Cruz

Born September 2, 1924, in San Francisco, Ca., she passed away on September 5, 2014 in Sacramento, Ca. Preceded in death by her husband of over 37 years, Robert T. Cruz Jr., her son Byron Cruz, daughter Christina Cruz, grandmother Eva Drisdale, and her many cherished cats. Muriel is survived by her daughter Laura Miller, nee' Cruz; son-in law Freddie Miller (whom she absolutely adored), granddaughter Shanelle Cruz, grandson Matthew Z'berg, and 3 great-grandchildren. Following her mother's death, Muriel was raised by her grandmother in Portola, Ca. She moved to Sacramento after high school and started her family there. She was an active lady and a devoted Kings fan. A lifetime member of the VFW, Muriel was also a published short story writer, a secretary for many corporations, a swimmer, and equestrian. Her athleticism didn't get passed on to her daughter Laura, but she did make sure Laura was fashion conscious. She will be dearly missed. Special thanks to Marine Residential, Love and Serenity Home Care, and Bristol Hospice for their gracious love, support, and genuine care of our mom. Private services were held at Sacramento Memorial Lawn. In honor of Muriel, please make contributions in her name to the SPCA.
