Obituary of Duong Van Phan

Duong V Phan, 71, of Sacramento, California, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 05, 2013 at Pho Minh Pagoda. Born in Tan Thanh, Go Cong, Vietnam, but Duong lived most of his early life in My Tho province. In 1987, he migrated to the U.S with his family of wife and two daughters. Duong was a passionate man who enjoyed writing. However, he served in the army for South Vietnam as a captain for 15 years. After moving to the US, he wrote articles for Vietnamese magazines and published a Vietnamese book "Giot Nang Long Lanh" with many short stories. Duong was extremely loving and proud of his two daughters, Thien Huong Phan and Kim Phan. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Minh Vo, his four grand children, Valerie, Bobby, Joshua, and Madison, his four sisters in Vietnam, his son in law Ben Nguyen, his god son, Tony Nguyen, and nieces, nephews and other friends. The family will receive friends and prayers on Friday March 15th, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, March 16th, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. His service and cremation will be on Sunday March 17th, 2013 with Buddhist tradition beginning at 8:00am, all at Sacramento Memorial Lawn Funeral Home.
