Joann Cooper entered into rest June 30, 2016 in Sacramento, California at the age of 78. Born June 16, 1938, she was a native of St. Louis, Missouri. Joann worked for the Department of Social Services for many years, until her retirement in 2002. After her retirement, Joann enjoyed spending time, reading going to the movies and caring for her family. Joann was a kind, loving and caring individual to all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. She is survived by her mother Lillian Hatten of St. Louis, MO; son Michael Barry Cooper of Fremont, CA; daughter in-law Christina Cooper Freeman of Oakland, CA; granddaughter Ashley Cooper of Oakland, CA and two great grandchildren Aaron Robbins Jr. and Anthony Robbins of Oakland, CA. She is also survived by two brothers Richard Mays, David Mays, sisters-in-law Ann Mays and Ardell Mays of St. Louis, MO, three God daughters, Wilma Reed, Linda McCarthy and Jacqueline Andrews all from Sacramento, CA. She is also survived by a host of family and friends. She will be truly missed by all. Memorial Services will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at 12pm at Sacramento Memorial Lawn, 6100 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, Ca 95924. Sacramento Memorial Lawn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
