Obituary of Alice Kunibe

Alice Abe Kunibe peacefully entered into rest on September 13, 2014 at the age of 98. She was born in Sacramento, and attended Lincoln Grammar School, Sutter Middle School, Sacramento High School and graduated from Sacramento City College with distinction. Alice and her family were interned at Tule Lake, but eventually returned to California where she and Thomas married at the Stanford University Chapel in 1945. They remained happily married for 69 years. Alice worked and retired from the State of California after 25 years of service. For over 90 years she was an avid and devoted church member serving as President of the United Methodist Women's Group, and singing in the choir until last year. Alice looked forward to social events, lunches with friends and Sunday dinner with family. She touched many lives and will be missed by everyone who knew her. Her elegant beauty, giving spirit and quiet loving nature will always be remembered. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas, children Cheryl Aoki Kunibe, Tommy (June) Kunibe, and Lisa (Chip) Krause. She also leaves behind grandchildren Candace (Rob) Clarkson, Nicole, Kevin and great- granddaughter, Annie. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church, 6929 Franklin Blvd., Sacramento. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sacramento Japanese United Methodist Church.
