Obituary of MARTIN R. CASTRO

Martin R. CASTRO CASTRO, Martin R. Passed away peacefully at his home the morning of April 2, 2010 at the age of 85. In 2005 Martin lost his beloved wife Margarita to whom he was married for 61 years. From that day forward, he prayed to our Father in Heaven to take him home. On that morning his prayers were answered. He was also preceded in death by his son Martin Jr., 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Lilia, Beatrice, Dora, Genieve, Estella, Hortencia, Ruben, Saulito, and Eliseo. He is survived by his daughters Estella, Juanita, Rebecca, 5 sisters; Rosie, Eusdela, Bertha, Leonor, Celia, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was born and raised in Pleasanton, TX. As a child he worked hard helping his parents in the fields and developed a work ethic that he carried with him for the rest of his life. In 1943 he married Margarita and shortly after was called to serve our country in World War II, where he received a Purple Heart. Some years later he moved his family to California, pursuing a better life. He was hired at Campbells Soup Co., and retired after 36 years. During this time he received several awards for his exemplary service. He had a love for sports and children, volunteering his time coaching baseball for the youth in his neighborhood. But his passion was working outside, spending hours tending to his yard while listening to his Mexican music. We know he is now resting in the arms of his savior, rejoicing in his homecoming and being reunited with Margarita. He was a strong man, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him.
