Obituary of Annie R. Williams

Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Annie Williams, loving mother and grandmother, born October 18, 1939, in Jackson, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2011, after a long illness. Annie's daughter, Rhonda was by her side as she has been for many years. Annie left this world to join her love ones that have gone on before her. Annie moved with her family to Sacramento, California at the age of twelve. A public servant for many years she retired after 34 years of service with the State of California, State Personnel Board in 1995. She often proclaimed that she would still be working today, if she were able. Throughout Annie's illness, Rhonda made many sacrifices in her own life and was steadfast, loyal and committed to taking care of her Mother. Rhonda was with Annie providing love and care to the very end. As Rhonda needed Annie in the beginning, Annie needed Rhonda in the end. A loving relationship - what a blessing. Annie touched the lives of many people. She never hesitated to share her wisdom or to let you know what was on her mind. Whether she just met you or had known you for many years, she would provide insight and offer advice even if you didn't want it she was compelled to tell you anyway. Rhonda would often say her friends were not stopping by to talk to her but were coming to see her mom instead. Most of Rhonda's friends called her mom. Annie loved whoever Rhonda loved. Annie loved to cook and although she didn't need them, she leaves a massive library of cookbooks and recipes for her daughter and niece Cynthia to enjoy. She loved keeping up with current events and would often call Rhonda at work to tell her about news worthy eventssometimes several times a day. Rhonda's secretaries would sometimes interrupt Rhonda in meetings to take Annie's news worthy calls. Annie was the self proclaimed "Queen of Suduko". She would often compete with her grandsons David and Derek to see who could do it the fastest. Annie was committed to family. This was demonstrated in part by raising her nephews as her sons after their parents were deceased. Annie was preceded in death by her father Booker Byrd Sr., her mother Ruth Byrd, her sister Delores Kincaid and her brother in law John Kincaid, son Allen Kincaid and nephew Byron Byrd. She leaves to cherish her life her loving and committed daughter Rhonda Craft, her son Gary Kincaid, her grandsons David and Derek Craft, brother Booker Byrd Jr. (Evelyn), her sister Sammie Pickens, niece Cynthia Smith (Darren), nephews Michael Byrd and Wendell Byrd, two great grandchildren, Jaden and Adrianna, a very special friend Billy Randall, and a host of family and friends. Graveside services will be held December 19, 2011 at 10:00am at Sacramento Memorial Lawn.
