Obituary of Ruth Ann Wartson

Mrs. Ruth Wartson was born to Mr. Thomas Payne and Ms. Loretta Handley on November 26, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. She was the first black woman on Ebony Magazine. She went to Central High School with Cassius Clay and then later moved to Chicago, Illinois, then to Los Angeles where she worked at Hughes Aircraft. She then moved on to Sacramento where she worked at ESS making speakers and then worked in Woodland CA as a State Inspector of Food and Agriculture. Her last job was a bus driver for Regional Transit where she worked for seven years. Our loving Mother was also baptized in 2014 as a Jehovah Witness. Our Loving Mother is proceeded in death by her mother that raised her, Momma Beatrice Davis, her father, Thomas Payne, her mother Loretta F. Handley and her sister, Joyce Poynter. Our Loving Mother leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Mr. Josephus Wartson Sr and her seven children, six of Sacramento, CA and one of Hanford, CA, Herbert K. Tolbert Jr, Iris Gale Garner (Roy Garner), Rhonetta Elaine Williams, Alecia Williams, James Wartson Sr (Bobby Jean), Josephus Wartson Jr and Pamela Wartson, one sister of Salem, Oregon, Margo P. Handley Jones, a host of grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren and Shelia Crosby - her fishing buddy. And a special thanks for the care from Dominique and Krystle, we love you.
