Obituary of Bing Horn Soohoo
Bing Horn SooHoo born in 1926, in Lowng Hou Lai, Chak Heim Town, HouPing City, Guangdong Province, China. He grew up in China and was raised by his grandmother at that time. Bing Horn left for Hong Kong around 1950 and restarted his family there. He took his skills as a Chinese chef and worked in Hong Kong until, Ng Gum Sheung, his 1st wife’s passing in 1967. In 1972 he immigrated to the U.S. with the help of his father and uncle. With six kids in tow and a new country to learn, he worked in Chinese restaurants in and around the Sacramento area. Raising six children as a single parent was quite an accomplishment. Bing Horn was even able to start a restaurant with his cousin George and his Uncle Frank in 1980. I think that was his dream come true. An immigrant being able to be a part owner of a business. The American dream come true. But his heart broke with the passing of his two oldest sons, Oliver and Wesley and his 2nd wife, Kwan Lai Sheung.
Bing Horn passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17, 2024. He is survived by his sons Wallace and Dean, and daughters Cecilia and May.
