Obituary of Gina Robyn Brown
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard” - Winnie The Pooh
Especially when they don't get the chance to say goodbye to us. Gina Robyn Brown passed away suddenly on January 15, 2024. She is survived by her two daughters, Ateliah Robyn DuBurg and Shelbi Robyn Brown, along with their significant others, Paul Ruhl and Tomas Tanon. Her grandchildren include Bailey Elizabeth, Wynter Rose and Lincoln Amadeus. Gina is also remembered by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Mindy Brown, nieces and nephews - Aaliyah, Alizé, Reyoni, True, Devyn, Max, and Reggie. Her BONUS family includes Shadoe Vessio (niece), Luke Hitchens (nephew), Valerie Hitchens (niece), Brian Bishop (son), Niki Tepperman (daughter), Leon Winner III (son), Brooke Griffin (daughter), The Pinkard’s, The Tidwell’s, The Tepperman’s, The Miller kids, and many more.
Gina dedicated her life to helping others. As a child, she raised her two brothers while her mother worked to support the home. She began her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Arbor Convalescent in Lodi, CA, and later managed a Board and Care Home for disabled adults in Sacramento, CA. Subsequently, she devoted seven years to two Quadriplegic men as an IHSS worker. During this time, she managed to finance her first and only home for her two children and herself in the South Side of Sacramento.
Following this accomplishment, Gina extended her hand to those in need, offering help, a temporary roof over their heads, genuine friendship, and motivation. It didn't always work out, but she remained steadfast in her commitment to kindness and genuine connections, reaching out to lift others up.
Gina eventually retired her scrubs, seeking more stability, and found a place at the Department of Social Services with the State of California. Starting at the bottom, she worked her way through promotions, and just a few weeks before her passing, she achieved the promotion she had worked so hard for, becoming an IT Professional.
A bright light extinguished, leaving the world a little darker since her passing.
