Obituary of D'Mauriye Yokley-Jackson
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of D’Mauriye Yokley-Jackson, who left us on December 18, 2023, at the tender age of 20. D’Mauriye also known as “DJ” was born to his parents, Brian Jackson and Melissa Yokley-Woods, on July 5, 2003, in San Bernardino, CA. As an infant DJ relocated to Sacramento, CA, where he would spend the majority of his life.
DJ grew up in the South Sacramento area with his father, Brian, Grandmother Rafaela, and Great-Grandmother Oranell. He attended Pony Express, Ethel I. Baker, and Alice Birney Elementary schools where he played sports such as soccer, track & field, and taekwondo. At the age of 12, DJ and his father moved to Reno, Nevada where he would make longtime friends and memories. During his time in Reno, He attended McQueen High School where he was a part of the football and wrestling teams. After four years, DJ and his father, Brian, moved back to Sacramento, CA, where he would graduate from John F. Kennedy High School. After completing high school, DJ attended Cosumnes River College while working for the Matheson Trucking Company.
DJ was a vibrant soul with diversified passions. He embraced a love for fitness and excelled in strength training. His interests also extended into the tech world, where he found success in day trading while navigating the intricacies of cryptocurrencies. DJ loved to travel; whether to neighboring cities such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, or cruising overseas with family. DJ was a genuine, down-to-earth soul with a heart of gold. He was someone who cared endlessly for others and would show up for you when needed. He had an infectious smile that brought joy to those he encountered.
D’Mauriye is survived by his father, Brian Jackson and mother, Melissa Yokley-Woods. Seven siblings, Melissa Jones, Makaylee Jones, Mariah Jones, Aniyah Jackson, Gia Butler-Barnes, Genevive Woods, and Gregory Woods. Grandmother, Rafaela Jackson. Grandfather, Ronald Yokley Jr. Great-Grandmother, Rafaela Smith and Oranell Yokley. Aunts, Rene White, JoAnne Perry, Vivian Moody, Annie Harmon, Vivian Yokley, and Yanique Allen. Uncles, Donald Jackson and Carlos Woolfolk.
D’Mauriye’s legacy will be remembered by a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were there along his journey. May DJ’s spirit find eternal peace, and may his loved ones find solace in the memories they shared with him. D’mauriye will forever live in our hearts.
