Please share a memory of Margarita to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Our mother was named Margarita Rodriguez Fernandez at birth and born in Anthony, New Mexico. Margarita grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico, she met our father Pablo Montes in El Paso,Texas. They had their first seven children in El Paso, Texas and the last three children in San Pedro, California. I would like to say being the youngest of the 10, I grew up with a lot of love. Our mother taught us the value of hard work, speaking our minds, fighting for a good cause, and if you started something you finish what you started. With mommy, she was tough love and she never allowed me to cry. There was never a time for crying but being the youngest, I always found a way to cry and get my way from my brothers and sisters. Our mother was the most strongest woman that I've ever met, the funniest woman I've ever met, while always joking and making me laugh so much. Mommy always had the best remedies and had the greenest thumb for plants, my sisters and I would go to her house and always take little clippings. We would always ask how she makes them grow so pretty and green and she would always give us her tips. In our hometown of San Pedro, our mother was a godmother to many children that I had grown up with. I even got a chance to speak to one of her goddaughters, that was 70 years old that she had baptized in her infancy. I always would catch her on the phone with either nephew and niece or a godchild if it wasn't one of her children she was very popular woman. Our mother outlived four of her son's, her first son that passed away was her youngest Mario Montes, second Ismael Montes, third Jose Montes and the fourth was Pablo Montes Jr. The surviving children are Roberto Montes, Maria Flores, Margarita Chavez, Martha Mendoza, Rosalinda Montes, Laura Montes. Mommy had 28 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. We were all tremendously blessed to have had her a 91st surprise birthday party for her this June 10th with Mariachis. Mommy had the time of her life and for that we are so truly blessed and happy and at peace that our mother knew how much her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved her as she loved us!
