Obituary of Martin Wong

Martin Wong 1943-2021 On the morning of July 7, 2021, Martin Wong had passed away peacefully at home in Sacramento at the age of 78 years old. Martin was born in Shanghai, China to an elementary school teacher and a Statesman. He married his high school sweetheart. The marriage produced four children. Martin immigrated to the United States and became a U.S. Citizen after several years of working many jobs to earn a living and to support his family and his life. Martin came to the U.S. for the land of opportunity, and he seized every opportunity and chance to live his life out to the fullest. Martin worked in numerous restaurants including Frank Fat’s, Golden Dragon, New China, Bo Bo Restaurant, and other restaurants. He was a host, waiter, manager, and co-owner. These jobs took him to California, New Mexico, Washington, and Nevada. He met new friends along the way and new loved ones. Martin’s many pastimes were eating out, having dim sum, gambling at the casinos, and betting on the horses. In his younger years Martin enjoyed singing, bowling, swimming, and going to the California State Fair, SeaWorld, and Disneyland with his family. In retirement Martin remained active with long lost and found extended relatives in China and Taiwan; He spent time sightseeing, and in history museums, and riding on trains across the countryside. His father passed away when he was a child leaving his mom a widower to raise him and his brother. His two sons Johnson predeceased him. He is survived by daughter Mei(Jeffrey)Leung, daughter Rose, Kit, and brother Tik(Wai)Wong, and extended family.
